Zeodorizer – A Great Choice for Artificial Turf Installation

Zeodorizer is a premium organic infill designed to improve turf performance, especially in pet-friendly and high-heat environments. Made from natural zeolite, it helps control odors, reduce surface temperatures, and create a more comfortable outdoor space.

In addition, Zeodorizer enhances the overall durability of your turf by supporting the fibers and helping maintain a consistent surface over time.

What is Zeodorizer?

Zeodorizer is made from naturally occurring zeolite, a highly porous mineral known for its ability to absorb moisture and trap odors.

Because of its unique structure, zeolite can capture ammonia molecules and hold them within its pores. As a result, it helps reduce pet odors and keeps turf areas smelling fresh.

It also retains moisture, which allows for evaporative cooling. This can help lower surface temperatures compared to traditional infill options.

Why Should I Choose Zeodorizer?

Zeodorizer is perfect for home yards, dog kennels, pet areas, and any turf installation where cleanliness and cooling matter. It’s safe, effective, and easy to install.

Zeodorizer offers many performance benefits that make it a strong choice:

  • Odor control: Helps neutralize ammonia smells, making it ideal for pet areas
  • Cooling performance: Retains moisture to help reduce turf surface temperatures by up to 30°F
  • Organic and safe: Made from natural materials and safe for pets and families
  • Highly absorbent: Holds moisture to support cooling and odor control
  • 100% permeable: Allows water to drain freely through the turf system
  • Will not clump or compact: Helps maintain consistent performance over time
  • Prevents buildup: Helps reduce mold, mildew, and bacteria growth

Things to Consider

While Zeodorizer offers strong performance benefits, there are a few factors to keep in mind.

First, it is a premium infill option. As a result, it typically comes at a higher price point than basic materials like silica sand.

In addition, because it is lightweight compared to sand, proper installation and brushing are important to ensure even distribution and long-term performance.

However, for projects where odor control and cooling are priorities, Zeodorizer can provide significant advantages over traditional infill options.

Is Zeodorizer the Right Choice?

Zeodorizer is an excellent choice for pet areas, hot climates, and high-use spaces where comfort and cleanliness matter most.

If your goal is to reduce odors and create a cooler surface, it’s one of the most effective infill options available.

However, for budget-driven projects or applications where odor and heat are less of a concern, a more basic infill like silica sand may be a better fit. For projects focused on cleanliness and appearance, coated infills like Wonderfill may also be worth considering.

Best Uses for Zeodorizer Infill

Zeodorizer performs especially well in environments where odor control and temperature management are important.

Zeodorizer is best suited for:

  • Pet areas: Helps control odors and maintain a fresher environment (can be paired with a turf deodorizer spray for added performance)
  • Backyards with dogs: Reduces ammonia buildup and improves usability
  • Hot climates: Helps lower surface temperatures for added comfort
  • Play areas: Creates a cooler, safer surface for kids
  • High-traffic landscapes: Maintains performance even with frequent use

Proven Results Backed by Testing

Does Zeodorizer Create Dust?

Zeodorizer is a natural mineral product, so some initial dust may be present during installation. However, this is minimal and typically settles quickly once the material is installed and brushed into the turf.

Occasional batches can feel dustier due to handling, transportation, or dry weather. If you experience this, here’s an easy way to reduce dust during installation, especially when using a drop spreader:

  1. Add a SMALL amount of water. Pour the infill into the drop spreader, then add ½ cup to 1 cup of water to the bag’s worth of material .
  2. Mix by hand. Use your hand to gently mix the water into the infill. Zeodorizer is very absorbent, so the small amount of moisture will distribute evenly and help control dust. Important: Do not add too much water. Excess moisture can cause clumping, which will prevent the infill from flowing through the spreader properly.
  3. Install as usual. Spread the infill until the turf is filled to about ¾ of the blade height
  4. Rinse lightly after installation. Once the infill is down, lightly spray the turf to remove any remaining residue from the blades.

Once installed, Zeodorizer does not create ongoing dust issues under normal use. If you have any questions or run into any issues, we’re always here to help. Feel free to contact us.
